T’is Almost The Season To Be Jolly

Another busy few weeks for me as was my birthday on Bonfire Night, am getting younger each year instead of older!
I took the children to a wonderful display that was put on by my middle sons school and have to say it was the best display I have seen for many years and they were so lucky with the weather as was torrential rain until half an hour before the display was due to start and then the sky’s cleared, someone must have been smiling on the school that night. I don’t think that my youngest daughter will agree with me though as she hated every second of it because of all the loud bangs so she stood the holding onto me whilst pulling her hood over her face, however I did see her peaking every now and then! On leaving the display I said to the Head of the school that the display was brilliant and they should do it again next year only to hear my daughter saying “no they shouldn’t!” Kids you’ve got to love them!
On another note it will be Christmas in 43 days and I don’t want to sound like a Grinch but why is everywhere including the TV so full on with the Christmas advertising? Every year this all seems to start a bit earlier and this year has been no exception. To me Christmas shouldnt really start until the start of December as it did when I was a child.

Join us live for the Final Episode of Mums Half Hour

Join us live for the Final Episode of Mums Half Hour
The panel discuss how to manage Christmas stress, the perils of present buying and Christmas party outfits

Christmas can be a stressful time for all, especially for Mums. There is the expense of buying gifts, the rush of last minute shopping and the work and preparation that goes into making the perfect family meal – which includes entertaining and dealing with over excited children!

But it isn’t just the cost of buying gifts worrying Mums; there is also the issue of jealousy between children. It is natural for children to show some envy of another’s toys and presents, but how do you avoid your child turning into a green-eyed monster? Whether it is teaching your kids to share or general manners, our Mums have all the answers!

No one understands these issues more than our panel of mums for the next, and final, episode of Mums Half Hour. Joining us live and answering your questions, are Antonia Chitty, Sam Heynes and Fi Star-Stone who will be discussing Christmas and everything that goes with it, including what party outfits to wear for you and your child and if buying new outfits is even necessary.

This webTV show will be live and interactive for the last time, with the panel taking your questions and thoughts so if you have something to say, they want to hear it! WHO:

Half Term

Well it’s half-term here and I’ve been driven mad on the first day of it. My middle son is a very clever boy but also gets bored very easily and is always thinking about what he can be doing next and after that and after that so keeping him entertained on a limited budget is proving really hard…………… and to make things worse my youngest daughter is now starting to copy his behaviour. He hasn’t got ADHD even though he acts like it sometimes but would so so love him to behave but boys will be boys I suppose.

Scary Times Ahoy!!

Well Halloween is fast approaching, the kids are going on about their outfits and for the first year ever I am starting to worry too but not for them but for me!! I have NEVER dressed up for Halloween but this year I have been invited to a Halloween party!! YIKES!! What on earth do I wear???
The kids are so easy as youngest daughter will go as a pretty witch, middle son wants to be a vampire and eldest son who will be coming to the party with me wants to go as the thing from Scream.
I am so lost as to what to wear…………………..

Mid Week Blues?

Sorry I’ve not posted for a while as been a very busy Mum. Had to apply for youngest daughters school place this week, am so so hoping she gets into her brothers school otherwise life could prove very interesting by trying to be in 2 different schools at once! The whole applying for the first school process and waiting until the end of March to hear is very stressful, I just pray that she gets in.
Having a slight nightmare with her hair as well as she has very fine long hair which has curls on the end and every time she has to have her hair brushed she screams as it hurts her and it doesn’t seem to matter how gentle I am in doing it. Have tried a couple of detangler sprays but none so far have seemed to work and don’t really want to put loads of chemicals etc on her hair.

It was eldest sons birthday last week and he had a great day as he decided to sell one of his consoles so he could get a PS3 so he had me running here, there and everywhere trying to get him the right package. We finally found one and now all I hear is him shouting at the console as people kill him on the games.

Middle son is now getting excited about his birthday which is at the end of November and so far has submitted several requests for presents plus a party! Must remember to find that money tree.

I finally have a car now so I promise no more car whingeing. It’s so good to have my freedom back.

Need some ideas for stopping middle and eldest son fighting and arguing as it starts from the second they get up until one of them goes to bed, so any ideas would be gratefully received.

Friday!!

Well in typical me style the weather has got better just as I am about to get another car! I have walked in bad rain, high winds, in fact I think every type of weather except snow (I wont mention that word again) but on checking the forecast for the forthcoming week its sunshine all the way! Oh well will help me to get the mountain called the laundry pile dry!
Had an eventful week, youngest daughter had her 4th birthday, she was well and truly spoilt but the one present she truly loved was a £2 crown I brought her from Asda! Where as middle son took a liking to a boy doll she was brought that wee’s himself, this amused middle son for ages and produced some real belly laughs from him. He even said he wanted one for his forthcoming 7th birthday!
Middle son decided it would be a great idea to put a slug (YUCK) down someones trousers at school. I only found out as my friends child told me what he had done. Have to say I was very disappointed that the school didn’t call to inform me as if it was a child doing that to mine I would like to think they would inform the other parents. So went to see the deputy head and asked why wasn’t I told or called and she said it had been dealt with in school ie he lost his play at lunch. Well not meaning to sound a mean parent but I also punished him by sending him to bed early and banning him from his Friday sweets as don’t want my children to have no respect towards others.
I do think that his school are on a mission to force you to buy more jumpers from them as they are always losing middle sons jumper (even though it has his name on) or they get so grubby that even once they have been washed they still look dirty! Think the school are onto a winner with the school jumpers!
Eldest son has now got his first girlfriend, not too sure how I feel about this. Have been spying (keeping an eye) on their texts and online chats and they had their first kiss last week. Once I discovered this I got his dad to have a word about the birds and bees as really don’t want to be a Nan just yet! Eldest son was very embarrassed by this as when he returned home from his dads he was ready to kill me! But at least now he knows.
